“Aznavour – 100” Performance by the “Urartu” Armenian Theatre

On June 8, the National Theatre of Hungary hosted the “Aznavour – 100” performance dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour, staged by the Urartu Armenian Theatre of the Armenian Self-Government in Hungary. The event was attended by the Armenian Ambassador to Hungary, Ashot Smbatyan, members of the Hungarian Parliament, public and cultural figures of Hungary, and representatives of the Hungarian-Armenian community.

In the performance dedicated to Aznavour’s life and career, the role of Aznavour was played by the famous Hungarian actor László Báy, Édith Piaf was portrayed by Olga Kovács, and young Aznavour was played by Hungarian-Armenian actor Dániel Lukács.

The “Urartu” Armenian Theatre was awarded the Gergely László Vándordíj in 2024. This year, the Armenian Self-Government’s “Urartu” Armenian Theatre celebrates its 10th anniversary.
