Summer camp for forcibly displaced children from Artsakh

On August 11, around 100 children forcibly displaced from Artsakh departed for the Erzsébet Camp in Zánka, located on the shore of Lake Balaton in Hungary. According to the press department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, this year the camp hosted children aged 6 to 15, accompanied by 38 professionals — social workers, psychologists, and teachers from regional administrations and municipalities.

The program has been implemented since 2024 through the joint efforts of the governments of Armenia and Hungary. The coordinating body is Armenia’s Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, in cooperation this year with the Kotayk Regional Administration and the charitable NGO “Caritas Armenia.” In 2024, the Armenian authorities announced that about 1,000 children from Artsakh would take part in such camps, based on an agreement between Minister Narek Mkrtchyan and Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.
